A Stable Alkylated Cobalt Catalyst for Photocatalytic H <sub>2</sub> Generation in Liposomes

Artificial photosynthesis: A novel amphiphilic cobalt(II) polypyridyl complex (CoC12) and an ruthenium photosensitiser (RuC12) were immobilised on liposomes to perform photocatalytic H2 generation in the presence of ascorbate (Hasc?) tris-2-carboxyethylphosphine hydrochloride (TCEP) as sacrificial electron donors. In such conditions, CoC12 was found be photostable, while optimised turnover number (161) limited by decomposition ruthenium-based photosensitiser.

We report on a self-assembled system comprising of a molecular H(2) production cobalt catalyst attached on a ruthenium dye-sensitised TiO(2) nanoparticle.
